Content Filter Module
Increasingly web site users are expecting to be able to add content to your site using blogs, forums, reviews and classified advertisements. There are significant advantages in providing this capability to your site users, however there is also a risk that some users will post inappropriate or offensive content. It is not always possible to moderate all submitted content before publication so you need a mechanism to alert you to potentially inappropriate content and to actually prevent publication of any content containing offensive language.
The Content Filter Module allows you to define any number of words and phrases to be detected whenever content is added to your web site. You decide the level of severity of each word or phrase and how you want the system to handle the content. For example severity level one may publish the content when it is submitted and alert the site administrator to review and remove if necessary. Level two may be set so that if two or more level two words or phrases are used the content is not published and submitted to the admiistrator for review. Level three may be set so that a single occurance of a L3 word or phrase results in the content not being published.
Administrators are provided with a workflow page which allows them to quickly review any content matching the filter definitions and then take appropriate action, if necessary this can include deactivating the user's login.
This optional module provides great flexibilty in configuration and should be considered by any organisation deploying web sites with content being added by site visitors or where there are a large numbers of content editors or contributors.
The Content Filter is currently being used by Jersey Telecom for the classifieds section of their community portal site Jersey Insight.
